You know what I love about Rei? This right here. I said before that she’s like GX’s Rebecca Hopkins, but she’s still so much more than that. She definitely has her huge crush on Judai and is in a sort of “competition” with Asuka, but that crush does not dominate her character.

Throughout season 3, we’ve seen a side of her that’s kind and considerate, and she’s shown this by taking care of her friend and fellow classmate Martin. I think she sensed Martin’s loniness and reached out to him at the beginning of the year to be his friend. She tried to take care of him by doing things like making him lunch and going with him wherever he went. She’s the only one who calls him “Marty”. All she could think about was Martin’s well being, even after Yubel took over him. She wanted her friend back. And just look at her now that she has him back. She’s crying tears of joy.

Rei Saotome could’ve definitely used some more screentime and involvement in GX, but overall, I think she is a good character.
